batched display


hi
does django have anything readymade for batched retrieval and
display of records? if not, what is the best practice for doing
this?

Can you provide more info about what type of records you are thinking of?

There is a caching framework which can be used to only execute
intensive code every so often. Alternatively just run a python script
via cron and you can do pretty much whatever you want.

no no i meant retrieval of records from the database and displaying
the first 'n' records with buttons for the next 'n' etc

The the object_list generic view accepts a paginate_by argument see
here:http://www.djangoproject.com/documentation/generic_views/#using-list-detail-generic-viewsIs that what you're looking for?
